Houck Memorial Aims For Weekend
AKRON – After a pair of rainouts earlier this season, Akron Speedway will once again attempt to host its Brady Houck Memorial race event.
Saturday, Oct. 8, racing will begin with Lo206, Flathead 360#, a senior championship “Hoosier Tire Race” as well as kid karts will be featured.
First prize for the Lo206 and Flathead races is $250, $50 going to second place. A note for the Hoosier race, if the winning driver is sitting on all four Hoosier tires, they will be given a brand new set of Hoosier tires.
Entry fee is $25 with 100 percent payout, kid karts are $10 with trophies given. Gates open at 11 a.m., registration closes at 1:30 p.m., driver’s meeting is at 2 p.m. with racing beginning at 4 p.m.
Pit passes for the day are $15, under 5 are $5. Admission is $5, under 5 is free.
Houck, who died in a 2007 car accident coming home from his senior prom, raced at Akron among several places around the area. Houck started racing in 1997, and with his father, George, made it a family event.
Events will begin with a “Salute To Brady” lap.
