Whitko Girls Soccer: Flurry Freezes Wildcats
HARTFORD CITY – It took 26 seconds to knock Whitko out of the IHSAA girls soccer tournament. Eastbrook put two goals on the board within 26 seconds of each other in the second half to give the Panthers a 3-1 win over the Wildcats Monday night at the Blackford Girls Soccer Sectional.
With under nine minutes left in the game and the score tied at one, Eastbrook’s Jordan Trout and Natalie Danals each found the back of the net to break the deadlock.
Whitko struck first, with Emily Oliphant getting the goal in the first half. Eastbrook’s Talia Contreras took a pinball pass and slipped it into the net to tie the score, which is how the game stood until the 71st minute.
Riley Insley and Leighandra Goodman each had three shots on target for Whitko. Stephanie Baughman made eight stops in net for the Wildcats.
The second game of the night had Oak Hill collect a 4-0 win over Peru.
Whitko concludes its season 3-11-2.
