Council Appropriates Funds for Road Repaving
WARSAW — The Kosciusko County Council spent most of the short October meeting appropriating additional funds.
Sheriff Aaron Rovenstine was present to ask that $6,933.37 be transferred from an insurance vehicle replacement fund to vehicle repairs and maintenance. Rovenstine also asked that $11,000 of the $18,000 earned in an auction held last month be placed into the equipment fund.
The county general extension gave $237.23 back to the county for an educational program that was assumed to be shut down.
The appropriation of funds from the community crossing grant was approved for $1,548,542.20. This amount is the summation of bids on the construction and repaving of County Farm Road between CR 200S and 700S, Old State Road 15 between Levi Lee and Armstrong Road, and CR 350W between U.S. 30 and Old Road 30. These bids were brought forward by Scott Tilden and approved at last month’s Kosciusko County Commissioners meeting.
Barry Andrew was present to ask for $2,000 more to update software and keep the county’s drug and alcohol program functional until the end of the year.
Other business:
- Lissa Krull with the Nappanee Library came before the board to approve the appointment of Julie Dijkstra.
- Ron Ousley with the adult drug court came forward to raise his salary to a competitive $49,000. This is grant funded and does not come from local tax dollars.
- Robert Bishop was present to request permission to apply for a $25,000 prosecutor grant that needs to be approved by Council and Commissioners.
The next Kosciusko County Council meeting is Thursday, Nov. 10.
