DeHart, Woody Sentencing Wednesday
WARSAW — The sentencing of Kyle David DeHart,, 24, and Brandon Thomas Woody 24, both of Syracuse, will take place in Kosciusko Circuit Court Wednesday morning. DeHart is scheduled for sentencing at 10 a.m. and sentencing for Woody is set for 11 a.m.
DeHart faces a fixed term of between 45 and 65 years on each of the two counts of murder, plus an additional 2 1/2 years on a charge of obstruction of justice.
Woody also faces a fixed term of between 45 and 65 years on each of the two murder charges.
A 12-member jury found both men guilty on Thursday, Oct. 6, of their charges following 3 1/2 days of testimony and seven hours of deliberation.
The two were charged with the Feb. 19, 2015, murders of Tara Thornburg and Josh Knisley, at 205 E. Main St., Syracuse.
Other individuals involved in the case: Thomas Hursey, 29, Walter Way, Warsaw; Ashlyn Shepard, Mishawaka; and Joan DeHart, Elkhart, formerly of Syracuse, are scheduled for pre-trial conferences on Nov. 7.
Hursey, who testified against DeHart and Woody, has been charged with two counts of murder, aiding/inducing robbery resulting in serious bodily injury and aiding/inducing obstruction of justice.
Shepard and Joan DeHart have both been charged with assisting a criminal.
