Man Arrested For Stealing Items Totaling $1,160.17 From CVS
WARSAW — A man from Michigan City was arrested after stealing items from a local CVS.
Ray Steven Linder, 24, 2013 Buffalo St., Michigan City, is being charged with count I theft, a class A misdemeanor, and count IA sentence enhancement theft, a level 6 felony.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Sunday, Aug. 14, an officer responded to a theft taking place at a local CVS pharmacy. The officer was informed that the two individuals stealing fit the description of two males who had stolen from two other CVS stores earlier in the evening.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, when the officer arrived, he found the two subjects, Linder and another male, in the back of the store. Both had merchandise in their coats. The merchandise hidden in the coats included nine boxes of whitening strips, 15 boxes of Nexium 24-hour, five boxes of Prevacid, three boxes of Prilosec and one box of Alli. The total value of the merchandise was $1,160.17.
Linder and the male told the officer they intended to pay for the merchandise. However, when the officer escorted them to the cash register, neither of the men had the ability to pay for the merchandise.
Linder has a previous conviction for conversion on Dec. 18, 2013, in Laporte Circuit court.
He also has charges pending for theft in Porter County Superior Court Five.
Linder was was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Monday, Oct. 31, on a bond of $5,250.
