Herberta I. Munson
Herberta I. Munson, 93, formerly of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, in the Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne, Ind.
Herberta was born April 16, 1919, in Elwood, Ind., to Herbert Bucklin and Madeline Ruth (Bolinger) Robinson. She was a 1937 graduate of Warsaw High School and attended Ball State University in Muncie, Ind., for one year.
On July 26, 1942, in Warsaw, Herberta and Gael DeFoe Munson were joined in marriage. They were the co-owners of Munson Chevrolet where she was the business manager.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Order of Eastern Star and Delta Theta Tau. Herberta was a devoted wife and a loving mother and grandmother. She was a cherished friend and will be missed by many.
Those with memories to treasure are two sons and a daughter-in-law: Dee and Lissa Munson III, and Herbert Anthony “Tony” Munson; a daughter: M. Elaine Call, all of Warsaw; six grandchildren and their spouses: Nathan Munson, Portland, Ore.; Derek Munson, Indianapolis, Ind.; Travis Munson, Terre Haute, Ind.; Tammy and Scott Lauschke, Canton, Ohio; Scott and Cindy Silveus, Warsaw; and Cameron and Misty Silveus, Warsaw; six great-grandchildren: Josh, Christopher, Maddie, Sarah, Anna and Mason.
Herberta was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years: Gael D. “Jr.” Munson; a sister: Marguerite Gilliam; and her only brother: Cameron Robinson, who was a pilot in the United States Army Air force was killed during World War II.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
The family has asked that gifts in Herberta’s memory be given to the Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home, 5910 Homestead Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46814.
