Valley Basketball: Vikings Edge Argos
AKRON – The Tippecanoe Valley boys basketball team turned in a big bounce back effort Tuesday night.
The Vikings responded from a season-opening blowout loss to Warsaw by outlasting Argos 53-50 in overtime.
Valley, which lost 75-27 last Wednesday at Warsaw, outscored the Dragons 8-5 in the extra session to pull out the win.
Argos, now 1-1 on the season, led 12-10 after the opening period. The host Vikings led 25-23 at halftime and 39-34 after the third period before being outscored 11-6 in the fourth quarter to force overtime.
Senior Alec Craig also bounced back big time for Valley. The senior guard, who was held scoreless in the season opener, tossed in a team-high 19 points in the win.
Jarod Duzenbery scored 13 points and Keith Wright added 10 for the winners.
Vinny Stone netted 21 points and Drew Bollenbacher 20 for the Dragos, who had defeated Bremen 57-36 in their opener.
Valley (1-1) hosts Knox Friday night. Argos (1-1) hosts South Bend Trinity Thursday night.
