Wawasee Choral Presenting Christmas Celebration
SYRACUSE — Wawasee High School Choral Department will present a Christmas celebration for the public beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, in the high school auditorium.
Featured will be both secular and sacred music of the Christmas season. Beginning choir, advanced choir and Vocal Motion will be participating.
The concert will begin with all choirs performing an arrangement of “God Rest You Merry Gentlemen,” with an accompaniment to Tchaikovsky’s “Nutcracker Suite.” The concert will end with all choirs performing “Hallelujah Chorus” from “Messiah” by George Handel.
Beginning choir will perform “Ding Dong Merrily on High.” Advanced choir will perform “Beautiful December” and “Candy Cane Lane.”
Vocal Motion will perform several holiday selections with choreography. The group will perform “Holiday Road,” “Still, Still, Still” and the group’s traditional performance of “Fruitcake.” They will also perform the selection “White Winter Hymnal” recently featured on WNDU-TV. The final number the group will perform is “Celebrity Christmas,” with humorous renditions of “Frosty, the Snowman” by Benjamin Meeks as Elvis, “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” performed country style by Elmer J. Kirkpatrick, and “Suzie Snow Flake,” performed by Payton Vandiver in a Tina Turner style.
All groups will perform other holiday favorites.
Senior dance captain Ethan Wright is the choreographer for the program. Connie Meadows is the director of choirs.
