Warsaw Swimming: Tigers Collect Pair Of Wins
GOSHEN – The Warsaw swim teams doubled their fun on Saturday.
Both the Tiger girls and boys teams each collected a pair of Northern Lakes Conference wins in downing host Goshen and Elkhart Memorial in a league triangular.
The Warsaw ladies topped Goshen 108-78 and bested Elkhart Memorial 128-54. The boys beat Goshen 95-88 and stopped Memorial 128-48.
Delaney Wihebrink turned in a big day on the girls side for the Tigers. She won the 200 IM in a time of 2:20.64 and also claimed honors in the 100 backstroke in 1:03.05. Wihebrink also swam on a pair of winning relay teams. She teamed with Laurn Kuhl, Taylor Gunter and Brenna Morgan to win the 200 medley relay race in 1:59.30 and with Morgan, Olivia Herman and Laurel Moeller to take first in the 200 freestyle relay event in a time of 1:47.78.
Warsaw star Morgan also won the 50 freestyle in a time of 25.50. Kuhl was first in the 500 freestyle in 5:55.04 and Moeller won the 100 breaststroke race in 1:14.81 for the Tigers.
The team of Kuhl,, Gunter, Morgan and Audrey Curson took first in the 400 freestyle relay race in 4:08.42.
Nick Zogbi played a part in three wins to pace the Warsaw boys team to its pair of wins. Zogbi won the 100 backstroke in a top time of 59.81. He teamed with Alex Cook, Evan Borchers and Grant Knight to win the 200 medley relay in 1:44.54 and teamed with Borchers, Cook and Hudson Snyder to claim first in the 400 freestyle relay race in 3:33.08.
Snyder also had a strong day with a pair of individual wins for the Tigers. Snyder won the 200 freestyle in a time of 1:54.17 and took top honors in the 500 freestyle in 5:12.44. Borchers won the 100 fly in 56.58 and Knight was first in the 100 breaststroke in 1:02.22.
Both the Warsaw girls and boys teams are now 5-1 overall and 4-1 in NLC action on the season.
Warsaw will host conference foe Plymouth on Tuesday night.
