Outboard Motor Fans To Meet in North Webster
Several hundred antique outboard motor restorers, historians, collectors and enthusiasts from across the Midwest region and Canada will gather in North Webster Town Park for a day of activities related to their hobby. The public is invited to attend.
The Antique Outboard Motor Club will hold its 2012 Spring Antique Outboard Motor Show and Swap Meet from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, May 19, in the park on the west shore of Webster Lake. It is near the Dixie boat dock.
The events include an exhibition of recent restoration projects, serious swapping of parts and literature and running the old-time boat motors on the lake. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.
Club members invite area owners of old outboard motors to attend the meet for a free evaluation of their old motors. Many old motors are bought, sold and evaluated throughout the day. Many participants will stay later in the day if the weather is nice to run the motors on the lake. Another meet will be held Sept. 15 at the same location.
The national Antique Outboard Motor Club, with over 5,000 members, classifies an antique outboard motor as being manufactured prior to 1950 and a classic outboard motor must be manufactured prior to 1982.
