Claypool Welcomes Town Marshal Dalis Owens
CLAYPOOL — It was a short meeting for the Claypool Council on Dec. 19, as they tied loose ends to close out business in 2016.
Town Marshal Chuck Lewallen put in his resignation at a special Dec. 5 meeting. At that meeting Dalis Owens was appointed as the new town marshal.
Owens’ first request as marshal was asking the council permission to hire three reserve officers. After verifying these were volunteer positions, the council approved.
In other business:
- A resident requested a wastewater credit of $45.41 after fixing a leak.
- A resolution was passed allowing the clerk-treasurer to make year end transfers to balance books.
- The council approved 2017 holidays as follows: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Days, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
The next standard meeting is Jan. 16.
