Mentone Man Sentenced On Charges Of Domestic Battery, Possession of Meth, Identity Deception
WARSAW — A Mentone man was sentenced today, Jan. 9, on charges stemming from three separate incidents that occurred last year.
Brady Lee Shepherd, 3373 SR 19, Mentone, was sentenced on charges of identity deception, domestic battery, possession of methamphetamine and failure to appear.
Shepherd had been charged with domestic battery after he battered his wife last year. According to the affidavit of probable cause, his wife advised that Shepherd and she had been traveling to purchase heroin when she told him she wanted no part in it. Upon arriving back at their residence, Shepherd became angry and grabbed her right arm with one hand and used his other hand to push her face into the driver door causing her glasses to break and scratching her forehead.
Shepherd’s other charges stemmed from other incidents that occurred in 2016.
During the short sentencing, Judge Huffer stated he was sad to see Shepherd in court again. “I had high hopes you wouldn’t be in here again,” said Huffer.
Shepherd was sentenced to one year at the Kosciusko County Jail for domestic battery. He received one year for possession of methamphetamine and one year failure to appear, to be served concurrently at the Kosciusko County Jail. Shepherd was also sentenced to one and one half years of probation for identity deception.
