Robotics Club Wins Warsaw Competition
WARSAW — Wawasee High School Robotics Club “Iron Pride” won the tournament championship at Warsaw Saturday, Jan. 21.
Teams 574E “Immortals” of Cedric Church, Joe LeCount, Tim Michaels and Abdiel Sanchez, 574M “Legends” of Max Hurst, Emilia Layne, Conrad Foreman and Anthon Anker, and the Wawasee Middle School team 574F “Centurion” led by Hudson Bonner, Jossie Coy, Colton Edgar and Wesley Hays qualified for the Indiana VEX Robotics State Championship in February. Currently five of the 10 Iron Pride teams have qualified for the state.
Team 574C “Spartan” led by Micah Rassi, Joe Kelsheimer and Nicholas Murphy won the design award for best design process and took second in the robotic skills competition, ranking them 13th out of 100 in the state and 189th out of 3,600 in the world and made it to the semifinals of the tournament. Team 574X “Sphygmomanometer Kanagasabapathy” led by Chase Nave, Sidney Smith, Mandy Mall and Zach Avery made it to the finals and 574A “The Three Musketeers” of Conner Erlenwein, Taylor Large, Hunter Newlin, Braxton Oberg and Luke Tyler made it to the semifinals.
The teams travel to Indianapolis this weekend to compete in K.I.D.S. Inc.
