WCHS Freshman Places Second In Poetry Contest
WARSAW — Warsaw Community High School freshman Joshua Fisher placed second in the Indiana State Poetry Out Loud Championship on Saturday, Feb. 18.
The Poetry Out Loud competition began in the fall at high schools all over the state of Indiana. Participating students chose poems to memorize from the Poetry Out Loud database and competed against their classmates. Class winners advanced to school-wide competitions.
At WCHS, Joshua beat over 50 classroom winners to advance to the state tournament. In the state tournament, Joshua competed against students from across Indiana. His performance in the first two rounds of the competition qualified him for the final round where he placed second overall. In addition to a trophy, Joshua won $200 for WCHS to spend on poetry books and supplies.
