Valley Sports Wrap: May 17
Softball
Tippecanoe Valley couldn’t find the magic Wednesday in a 10-0 loss at Peru in six innings.
Valley managed just two hits and one walk against Peru hurler Betheny Caldwell, who was masterful, adding eight Ks.
Peru clubbed 13 hits, led by a triple from Caitlyn Mongosa who had three RBIs in the contest. Maegan Sinkovics, Ellyn Badry and Kelsie Kelley all had two hits in the win.
Peru scored four runs each in the first and second innings to take command.
The Vikings sit at 10-14 and 5-4 in the Three Rivers Conference. The team will finish up Friday at Warsaw then look towards the Lakeland Sectional with a matchup with defending champion Fairfield.
Baseball
Peru crunched Valley, 16-5, in the TRC closer for both clubs.
A five-run first inning by the Tigers was piled on with a run in the second then 10 in the third inning, overwhelming the Vikings.
Lucas McConahay, Sean Smith, Robert Cunningham and Blake Edwards all had two hits for the Tigers, and McConahay and Nate Krisher was had three RBIs.
Peru won the TRC with an 8-1 mark, Valley tying for eighth at 3-6.
Valley (8-10) plays Saturday in the Twin Lakes Tourney.
