Area Teens Cited For Underage Drinking
NEW PARIS — In the early hours of June 11, Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department responded to reports of an underage party at a residence in the 18000 block of CR 48. Upon arrival, officers found multiple subjects under the age of 21 who had been consuming alcoholic beverages.
There were 13 individuals found to be under the age of 21. Three of these individuals were under the age of 18 and released to their parents, while the remaining 10 individuals who were over the age of 18, but under the age of 21, were issued tickets for illegal consumption of alcoholic beverages, and released at the scene.
Those subjects who were cited and released were:
- Tyler Reith, 20, Syracuse
- Draven Reith, 18, Syracuse
- Keenan Baker, 18, Goshen
- Ryan Price, 19, of Nappanee
- Myron Borkholder, 19, Nappanee
- Gracen Balser, 18, Syracuse
- Roberto Hernandez, 18, Goshen
- Zachary Smallwood, 18, Goshen
- Alexis Young, 18, Cromwell
- Stephanie Salazar, 18, New Paris
Dewayne Miller, 41, of New Paris was cited and released for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Elkhart County Sheriff’s Teenage Alcohol Reduction team members assisting with the investigation include Cpl. Chad Hoien, Patrolmen Matt Newman, Brittaney Elsasser, Joshua Whitehead and Cody Ong.
The Elkhart County S.T.A.R. team is comprised of officers from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department. The S.T.A.R. team’s focus is to target and reduce underage drinking and smoking.
S.T.A.R. members continue to deter, intervene, and detect underage alcohol violations by educating the community and taking a proactive approach to deterrence and intervention when needed.
