North Webster Drug Dealer Has Sentence Modified, Released On Home Detention
NORTH WEBSTER — A North Webster man convicted of dealing oxycontin in 2012 has been released from the Indiana Department of Corrections based on a sentence modification.
Lynn Umber, previously of 41 EMS W14B Lane, North Webster, was granted a motion for sentence modification on Tuesday, June 20. Umber was originally sentenced to serve 10 years at the IDOC, but was released yesterday due to the modification. He will serve the rest of the 10 year sentence on home detention through the Kosciusko County Community Corrections program.
The conviction stems from an investigation with the Kosciusko County Drug Task Force in December 2012. DTF officers purchased oxycontin from Umber on two different occasions in both North Webster and Syracuse. The investigation had been on-going for a “substantial time” and officers had been working commutatively with the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office to apprehend Umber.
Umber has been incarcerated in the Miami Correctional Facility since Feb. 5, 2013. While there, he received one major and two minor conducts. It was noted that his release was not based on medical reasons, but that he is wheelchair bound.
Based on court documents, Umber will be serving his home detention at his father’s residence. He must remain in a designated living area at all times except for work and approved trips, such as doctor appointments. Umber will also be subject to random drug tests.
