WiFi Printing / Print From Home Available At the Warsaw Community Public Library
By Amanda McFarland, Adult Programming Coordinator
WARSAW – Printing documents at Warsaw Community Public Library has never been more convenient, thanks to newly added Wi-Fi printing and print-from-home technology by PrinterOn.
Typically, when someone wants to access the library’s printing services, they need to be on-site and access one of the computers or the Wi-Fi. However, this comes with limitations, including library hours or the fact that it may not be practical to go to the library at that moment.
This is where at-home printing can come in handy.
Accessing this service is simple. Patrons can go here and click on the box that says, “Wi-Fi printing/print from home now available.” From there, they can select the color or black and white option, enter an email address and upload the document or web page they wish to print.
The user must enter a valid email address, select the file or URL to be printed, then click on the green button with the icon of a printer. The patron then receives a six-digit release code to use when picking up the print job. The document or URL will remain in the printer queue for 72 hours, at which time it will automatically delete.
Those wishing to print from a mobile device can go to the Google Play store or the IOS app store and download the app. Instructions on how to set up and use the app are available at the library.
To pick up a print, the user must take his or her code to the WCPL reference desk during regular library hours. Library employees cannot release the print job without the code.
The web page for Wi-Fi printing also contains links to instructions for printing from a mobile device and printing a boarding pass. Despite the program’s convenience, not every type of document works with this technology. A link takes the user to a list of compatible document types.
Though this service is called “print from home,” it is accessible from anywhere where there is a computer or internet connection. This means somebody at a coffee shop late at night can send a print job to the library, then pick it up in the morning. A patron out of town for a day or two can use the mobile app, then claim his or her document upon returning to Warsaw, provided it is within the allotted 72 hours.
