Edwards Sentenced For Multiple Auto Thefts
WARSAW — Bobby Edwards, Syracuse, was sentenced for two counts of auto theft and one count of resisting law enforcement today, July 25, in Kosciusko County Superior Court.
The charges stem from Edwards leading police on a vehicle pursuit that ended in Allen County on March 3. Edwards was able to bond out on the first auto theft charge but was booked again on March 6 after he was seen by North Webster Police operating another stolen vehicle.
Prosecutor Katy Hampton made note that Edwards was on probation while the two crimes were committed.
“I know I made some mistakes,” said Edwards in court. “I’m just trying to better who I am and make up for what I did.”
Judge David Cates commented that the crimes were not mistakes but instead decisions that Edwards chose to make. He sentenced Edwards to serve four years at the Indiana Department of Corrections followed by two years on formal probation. He will receive 145 days jail time credit for time served. Edwards will also pay restitution to the victims of the crime.
