Parrett Powers Warsaw To Title
WARSAW – The Warsaw boys swim team defended its home turf Saturday by winning its own invitational.
The Tigers piled up 644 points to win the first-ever event, which included six teams.
Sophomore Jayden Parrett led the way for the champions by being a part of three first-place finishes. Parrett won both the 50 freestyle (22.90) and 100 backstroke (56.65) races in individual competition. He also teamed with freshmen Zach Taylor, Matt Wildman and Mac Pelo to win the 200 medley relay event in a top time of 1:46.96.
Taylor also won the 200 IM for the Tigers in a time of 2:09.25.
Warsaw also had second-place efforts from Taylor in the 100 fly, Josh Miller in the 100 backstroke and the 400 freestyle relay team of Parrett, Miller, Ethan Cook and Andrew Thrasher.
Elkhart Central finished runner-up with 633.5 points. Lafayette Jeff placed third with 340.5, followed by Muncie Central (324), Fort Wayne Northrop (70) and Wabash (67).
Warsaw returns to action at home Tuesday night versus Huntington North. The Tigers then host conference foe Northridge Thursday.
