NorthWood Golf: Panthers At No. 18 In Preseason Poll
The NorthWood girls golf team checks in at No. 18 in the coaches association preseason poll for the 2017-18 campaign.
Coach Adam Yoder’s team has won a sectional title two of the past three years and has advanced to the regional round in eight of the previous nine seasons.
The Panthers, who open their season today at the Lafayette Harrison Invitational, have been dominant in the Northern Lakes Conference with 36 straight wins versus league foes. NorthWood went 11-0 a year ago, won the Warsaw Sectional championship and placed fourth in the East Noble Regional.
Evansville North, the defending state champion, is No. 1 in the preseason rankings. Westfield is No. 2, followed by Zionsville, Columbus North, Homestead, Fishers, Carmel, Lake Central, Cathedral and Hamilton Southeastern in the top 10.
The second ten has Fort Wayne Dwenger at No. 11, followed by Lafayette Jeff, Brownsburg, Penn, DeKalb, Western, Mooresville, NorthWood, Noblesville and Valparaiso.
The honorable mention list for the first poll of the fall includes Carroll, Bedford North Lawrence, Chesterton, Evansville Memorial, Lafayette Central Catholic, Leo, Martinsville, Mt. Vernon, New Palestine, Plainfield and Vincennes Rivet.
