New Charges Trigger Probation Violations
WARSAW — Two counts of probation violation were triggered after Joseph Matthew King, 19, 422 W. Porter St., Warsaw, was arrested on an unrelated matter.
King was arrested Monday evening, Aug. 14, on charges of battery, causing serious bodily injury, a level 5 felony; and disorderly conduct, a class B misdemeanor. Those charges have resulted on two counts of probation violation on two cases of battery in Kosciusko Superior Court II.
King’s latest charges stem from an event on July 20 at Central Park in Warsaw. Warsaw Police responded to a battery at the park and found a male subject sitting in front of the restroom bleeding from the nose. The victim was taken to Parkview Hospital for treatment.
Police spoke with several witnesses who reported King and two other individuals, both juveniles, confronted the victim with all three punching the victim.
The victim told police the three confronted him with King punching him in the nose and the two juveniles jumping him and began punching him. The fight moved toward the bushes, which caused the victim to fall over a bush. He then become unconscious. A surveillance video showed the assault with King and three other juveniles continue to punch and kick the victim after he fell into the bushes.
King admitted to police he punched the victim in the nose and that the juveniles “are his boys.”
