Use Of Cellphone Flashlight Catches Officer’s Eye, Ends In Arrest
SYRACUSE — The use of a cellphone flashlight, around two vehicles, caught the eye of a Syracuse police officer and ultimately led to the arrest of Jeremy R. Cole, 27, 10066 N. 400E, Syracuse, early Monday morning, Aug. 28. Cole has initially been charged with possession of meth and possession of paraphernalia.
His bond was set at $5,250 surety and cash.
According to information received, police were in the area of East Lynwood Drive, Syracuse, when the officer observed several people with flashlights walking around a truck and vehicle for an extended period of time. Police stopped at the residence, where Cole identified himself. He stated he was looking for a part on a watch that had fallen off and was using his cellphone flashlight to locate it.
Police inquired who the second individual was, who was no longer at the location. Cole stated he did not know, indicating it was a female, without police indicating the gender. Cole also gave police a female’s name. A search of residences in that area could not locate anyone knowing a female by that name. It was also learned one of the vehicles was registered to Tiffany Arndt. She also was not located in that area.
Police observed someone had engraved wording on the passenger side of Arndt’s vehicle and also observed a pipe, known to be used for smoking methamphetamine in the driver’s seat. Police searched the unlocked vehicle and found paraphernalia, baggies with a white residue and two pills, identified as Clonazepan.
Police also found a bag containing a clear rock, which tested positive for methamphetamine.
Arndt was later located by police. She told police she had sold the vehicle to Cole. However, he denied ownership.
