Boys Tennis
It was a tough night for the Warsaw boys tennis team Wednesday.
Sparked by strong singles play on all three courts, Culver Academy blanked the host Tigers 5-0 in a non-conference matchup.
Ian Smith topped Colton Lind 7-5, 6-1 at No. 1 singles to pace the Eagles.
Spencer Britton and Caleb Williams each lost in straight sets at No. 2 and 3 singles respectively for the Tigers. Britton dropped a 6-1, 6-2 final and Williams lost 6-1, 6-0.
Warsaw’s No. 2 doubles team of Reuben Williams and Nolan Knight dropped a 6-4, 6-0 final.
The closest match of the night came on the No. 1 doubles court. The Warsaw duo of Kyler Bartol and Bailey Buhrt won their first set 6-4 before losing 7-6 (7-2), 6-2 in the final two sets.
CMA won the junior varsity action 8-4. Winning for the JV Tigers were the doubles teams of Nick Rata and Dawson Vilamaa, Graham Landwerlin and Harrison Lewis, Emerson Wong and Jake Kaufman and Michael Ray and Hayden Anderson.
The Warsaw varsity drops to 4-2 on the season. The Tigers will play a conference match at Plymouth Thursday night.
Boys Soccer
The Warsaw boys soccer team came up on the short end of a 5-1 final at Concord.
Tedros Berelsman scored the lone goal for the Tigers in the second half of the Northern Lakes Conference match.
Warsaw drops to 3-3-1 overall and goes to 0-2 in NLC play.
The Warsaw junior varsity beat Concord 3-0 to improve to 3-3-0 on the season. Adam Brown had two goals and an assist to lead the winners. Brennan Cox had a goal and Jose Lars and Eliud Mejia each had an assist for Warsaw.
Warsaw plays in the Carroll Tournament on Thursday night.
