NorthWood Sports Wrap: Sept. 9
Cross Country
The NorthWood girls cross country team placed fifth in the County Clash Saturday.
The Panthers post a team score of 147 in the 16-team meet featuring teams from both Elkhart and St. Joe counties held at Ox Bow Park.
Whitney Wolfe had an outstanding day to pace the Panthers. Wolfe registered a lifetime best time of 20:45 to place 19th overall in the girls’ race.
Kate Jarvis tied her season best time of 21:00 to finish in 23rd place for NorthWood.
Jennifer Martinez was 31st overall in a time of 21:31, with Hannah Brubaker finishing in 21:52 and Breanne Resler in 22:06.
Penn won the girls team title with a score of 45. Northridge was runner-up at 50.
Morgan Dyer of Elkhart Memorial won the girls’ race in a time of 18:46.
Penn dominated on the boys side to earn the team title with a score of 49. Concord was second at 130 and NorthWood placed 10th at 258.
NorthWood faces Concord and Warsaw at Warsaw in conference action Tuesday night.
Boys Soccer
The NorthWood boys soccer defeated South Bend Washington 2-1 in the Argos Invitational.
The Panthers, who are 5-2, hosts LaPorte Monday evening.
Girls Soccer
The NorthWood girls soccer team played host John Glenn to a 0-0 deadlock.
Glenn had a 6-5 edge in shots and a 4-0 advantage in corners in the non-conference match.
NorthWood goalie Kira Robinson had six saves in the match.
NorthWood is now 6-1-2, while Glenn is 5–3-1.
NorthWood hosts Elkhart Memorial in NLC play Tuesday night.
