Valley Volleyball: Vikings Down Columbia City
High school volleyball
Tippecanoe Valley’s volleyball team beat Columbia City in four games Monday, 25-17, 21-25, 25-12, 25-19.
Leading the Lady Viking attack were Sophie Bussard with 18 kills and Makenzie Woodcox with 14. Bussard also led in passing with 22 digs, while setter Emily Peterson racked up 39 assists. Shayleigh Shriver served up a trio of aces for Valley, which improved to 12-5.
The Vikings JV also won, 25-5, 15-25, 15-11.
Mackenzie Costello tallied five kills, Sarah Myers notched 10 assists, and Allison Betton recorded three aces and three digs. Hayley Backus finished with a pair of blocks.
Middle school volleyball
Tippecanoe Valley’s middle school volleyball teams earned a pair of wins over Lakeland Christian on Monday.
The eighth grade Lady Vikings rebounded from a first-game loss to beat Lakeland, 22-25, 25-21, 15-8. Brianna Sheetz recorded nine kills and six aces to lead Tippy. Macy Kirchenstein and Mallory Durkes finished with six aces apiece for Valley, which moved to 8-2.
The seventh grade put away Lakeland in two lopsided games, 25-7, 25-9.
Brooke Kamp notched a prolific 13 aces, while Karli Hogue recorded six, and Abby Koch finished with four. Rily Honeycutt served up three aces, and Emily McGriff tallied one.
