MILFORD — The following events will take place at the Milford Public Library:
NOURISH YOUR BRAIN NUTRITION PROGRAM
Join Jackie Franks from Purdue Extension to “Nourish Your Brain” at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 25. During this one-hour presentation, she will discuss how the brain ages as well as nourishing your brain with food and activities to protect against memory loss. It’s never too early to start! Samples of brain healthy foods will be provided. Sign up will be available beginning Sept. 18 at the adult circulation desk.
STORY TIME BEGINS WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 27
Preschool-aged children will listen to stories about the alphabet during story time on Wednesday, Sept. 27. Story time, a free program that introduces children to the wonder of reading and libraries, is offered Wednesdays at 10:15 a.m. or 1:30 p.m., or Thursdays at 7 p.m. Parents, caregivers, and children do not need a library card to participate. Register your child now at the children’s circulation desk or by calling (574) 658-4312.
NEW READS ON OVERDRIVE
New novels from popular authors James Patterson, Jan Karon, and Ken Follett are available to checkout on digital lending service OverDrive. OverDrive, which all Milford Public Library patrons can use, allows individuals to borrow ebooks and audiobooks for free on any device.
Stephen King’s novels in his “The Dark Tower” series, “Wizard” and “Glass and Wolves of the Calla”, are sure to thrill readers.
Stephen E. Ambrose, author of “Band of Brothers” and “D-Day,” recounts the story of the U.S. Army storming the beaches of Normandy though the end of WWII in his novel, “Citizen Soldiers.” Learn about the frontier landscapes that inspired the ever-popular “Little House on the Prairie” Books by reading “The World of Laura Ingalls Wilder.”
Cook up some old-time recipes using “Old Farm Country Cookbook” and dream deserts with “The Art of Pie” by Kate McDermott.
