Wawasee Ladies Nipped In Overtime
SOUTH BEND – The Wawasee girls basketball team suffered its second tough loss in as many nights Saturday.
The Warriors dropped a 49-48 overtime decision to South Bend Adams in a non-conference road contest.
Wawasee opened Northern Lakes Conference play Friday night with a 39-35 home loss to Goshen.
The Eagles, who improve to 3-4, outscored Wawasee 6-5 in the extra session to grab the win. The game was close throughout as Wawasee led 23-19 at halftime and 37-36 after three quarters.
Standout KiLee Knafel poured in a game-high 22 points to lead the Warriors, who have lost two in a row after a 6-0 start to the season. Erin Wiktorowski scored 12 points by connecting on four treys for Wawasee.
Daija Wesson netted 12 points and Jenna Thomas added 11 to pace the winning Eagles.
Wawasee (6-2, 0-1) plays at undefeated Warsaw in NLC action next Saturday night. Adams plays at South Bend St. Joseph Thursday.
