Kosciusko County Council Member Receives Statewide Award
KOSCIUSKO — The Association of Indiana Counties announced that Kosciusko County Council Member Sue Ann Mitchell received the 2017 Outstanding County Council Member Award. The award recognized her contributions made to county government throughout her years of public service.
Mitchell is currently serving as a Kosciusko County Council Member. She has served as the AIC’s northeast district president and northeast district vice president and currently serves on the board of directors for the AIC. She has also served as the president of the Indiana Township Assessors Association, as a board member and education director for the Indiana County Assessors Association, Northeast District President for the Indiana State Auditors Association.
Mitchell was also honored in 2006 by the Indiana Association of County Commissioners Association and in 2007 by the AIC as Outstanding County Auditor by both associations. In 2014, she received the Arthur R. Himsel Award, the AIC’s highest honor. More recently, Mitchell was honored as Outstanding County Treasurer in 2016. The council award was announced last month during the AIC’s annual conference in Switzerland County.
The AIC’s Annual Conference is the largest gathering of county officials in the state. Representatives from public agencies, private entities, and local elected officials addressed issues such as: the role of counties in combatting the opioid crisis, cyber security, social media best practices, ways to strengthen a county’s long term financial standing, and so much more.
