Grace Golf: Lancers End Fall Campaign
KOHLER, Wis. – The Grace College men’s golf team wrapped up the fall campaign at the prestigious Whistling Straits Golf Club on Tuesday.
The Lancers finished in 15th place at the Whistling Straits Invitational. The course was home to the PGA Championship in 2015 and will host the 2020 Ryder Cup.
Grace was one of two teams who lowered its team score in the tournament. After carding a collective 331 as a team on Monday, the Lancers finished with a 323 to place 15th out of 20 teams.
Tristan Nienhuis, the reigning NCCAA Player of the Week, led the Lancers. He posted two solid rounds of 78-75, ending in 15th place out of 100 golfers. Nienhuis’s three-over 75 on Tuesday was the third-best round of the day for all players.
Chad Spencer was solid with a tournament total of 161, including a second-round 79. Camden Gongwer dropped his score by four strokes between rounds, ending with an 82 on Tuesday to complete his first collegiate fall.
Tim Rata (85-87) and Jacob Kennedy (87-87) rounded out the Lancers’ lineup.
The Lancers will resume play in the spring, gearing up for the 2018 Crossroads League Championships.
