KOSCIUSKO COUNTY — Kittie Grill’s great passions in life were sharing her Christian faith with others and looking out for the welfare of her family even in her later years.

Her son Steve recalls very fond memories of his mother and the powerful impact she had on the direction of the lives of her sons. “My mother was serious about life and she was, perhaps the most determined person I’ve ever known. She was caring and compassionate but doing what was right meant more to her than making others feel happy when they were on the wrong path,” shared Steve.

Grill loved studying her Bible. “I remember my mother wanting us to memorize Bible verses together when she was 90 years old. Eventually she laughed and said she thought I was doing most of the memorizing,” shared Steve. Her strength in her faith was a witness to her family, friends and the lives she touched for 96 years.

Kosciusko Hospice was contacted last winter when a fall began the downward spiral in Grill’s life that would require hospice services. “Our family not only loved mom but we also admired her and we knew that her 96 years on earth deserved a dignified and respectful ending before she went to heaven. Without Hospice and their staff, we would not have been able to see mom remain in her Grace Village apartment among her friends and familiar staff members until her final breath,” shared Steve.

“Having lived in this wonderful community for my entire adult life, I had heard positive comments about Kosciusko Hospice from dozens and dozens of friends, neighbors and co-workers. My brother and I had, at separate times, also served on the K21 Foundation Board and we both were impressed by the positive interaction the board had with Kosciusko Home Care and Hospice,” shared Steve.
