Bronson To Have Violation Hearing Monday
ELKHART COUNTY — Kevin Bronson pleaded not guilty on a violation filed by Elkhart County Community Corrections Nov. 13. A dispositional hearing has been set at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20, in Elkhart Superior Court 2, with Judge Stephen Bowers, special judge, presiding. Peter Todd from the Elkhart County Public Defender’s office has been appointed to represent Bronson.
Bronson was the last to be sentenced in the grand jury indictments handed down in February 2016. C. Aaron Rovenstine and Mark Soto were also indicted by that grand jury.
Bronson was sentenced Sept. 29 to Elkhart County Community Corrections for seven years on a charge of corrupt business influence. According to the violation noticed filed by Elkhart County Community Corrections, accompanied by the discipline report and video, he violated terms of the ECCC Nov. 8 by receiving a negative employment report for unaccounted time and providing false documents as well as making threats against ECCC officials.
His case manager also report Nov. 10 during the weekly meeting, when Bronson tried to defend what he did, he stated he did nothing wrong and made the statement “Don’t punish me again for something I didn’t do,” and advised the case manager not to mess with his life. Bronson is also quoted as saying “We’re going to talk this out like grown men so I (Bronson) will not feel guilty for this. I would hope the employees here have read the same things you have and read enough of the internet to realize that no one wants to poke a tiger that even Washington, D.C., backed away from.” The case manager further reported Bronson told him he didn’t have control of the Mafia and Aryan Brotherhood to prevent something from happening if something comes out they do not approve of.
The document quotes Bronson saying “I do not want the responsibility of somebody voicing their opinion to (naming the employment specialist) in a fashion that she will not deserve nor I would of approve of,” and later stating “nobody can control that, it’s just reality of everything surrounding me.” The case manager noted throughout the discussion Bronson was grinding his teeth and posturing up in an offensive position while sitting in the chair.
Additionally it is noted in the document Bronson kept repeating statements about he not being the boss and it is hard to take orders. “Offender Bronson throughout his time here at Elkhart County Community Corrections keeps referring to how his case is unique and different from all the others due to the press, him being famous and the federal government’s involvement. He states there is a lot riding on this and what ECCC does affects him.”
The case manager noted Bronson at one point advised not to light up the two groups (Mafia and Ayran Brotherhood) because of their ability to reach inside the facility and has made viable threats to the safety of all employees associated with ECCC that may be one at his hand, the Mafia or the Aryan Brotherhood. “This type of behavior cannot and will not be tolerated by ECCC,” the case manager stated.
The ECCC recommended Bronson be placed in the Elkhart County Corrections Facility and/or the Indiana Department of Corrections.
Bronson began serving his sentence with the ECCC Oct. 25. According to documentation by the ECCC he has 868 days remaining to be served and his expected release date is March 29, 2020.
