Lakeside Park Restrooms Underway
SYRACUSE — Syracuse Park Foundation met Tuesday evening, Nov. 28. There weren’t enough members present to form a quorum, so the meeting was spent discussing trails projects and the restrooms to be put in at Lakeside Park.
Dr. Tom Edington reported the whole park foundation had roughly $750,000 with a big chunk set aside for the Conklin Bay project for a new trail. He commented he hopes property owners will work well with them. The school is funding part of the trail to make sure kids walking to school get there safely.
Parks Superintendent Chad Jonsson presented the restroom proposal by Borkholder Buildings and Supply, Nappanee, the company that also built the pavilion at Lakeside Park. The proposal went into detail as to what would be on the building, dimensions and what it will be made of. Jonsson made a request to write a $5,000 deposit for the building permit to be completed and to pay for other engineering items. The deposit would be taken from general park funds from the park foundation so the project will continue to make headway.
As there weren’t enough members to pass a vote to accept the $5,000 request, Jonsson will contact the other members to confirm with them. Edington added if there needs to be a quick meeting to take care of it they could.
