Warsaw Basketball: Frosh Win Own Tourney Title
WARSAW – The hosts had the most Saturday.
The Warsaw freshman boys basketball team notched a pair of convincing wins to claim the championship of their own Tiger Tournament.
The hosts beat LaPorte 54-25 in opening round play.
Bishop Walters tossed in 18 points to pace the frosh Tigers as 10 players scored in the victory.
Luke Adamiec had eight points and Drew McCleary seven for the winners. Tyreese Phillips added five points and Ben Bergen and Mason Martz each had three points. The trio of Caleb Sands, Tyler Kindle-Olinger and Jacob Hawn each had two points.
Walters led the way in the title game with 13 points as Warsaw topped Fort Wayne Wayne 44-23.
Adamiec scored nine points in the championship contest and Brock Poe had six. Sands, McCleary, Philllips and Martz each had three points and Hawn and Jack Mayer each had two points.
The championship team, which is coached by Pat O’Connell and Jim Speicher, also included Landen Stanger, Ian Sutton and John Stutzman.
Warsaw improves to 7-2 on the season. The frosh Tigers play at Columbia City on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
