KOSCIUSKO — During a very brief meeting this morning, Dec. 19, the Kosciusko County Commissioners heard a request to apply for the 2018 Senior Hub Grant.

Kosciusko County Prosecutor Dan Hampton explained that the $20,000 Senior Hub Grant will go toward supplying clerical support for senior prosecutors. Senior prosecutors are used in cases where the prosecuting attorney has a conflict of interest. The grant will only apply to child support cases.

“Through the course of the day, the staff will be working these cases during their lunch hour,” explained Hampton. “No overtime.”

The money is offered through the Indiana Prosecuting Attorneys Council. The county received the grant for the first time this year.

“I think it’s been working pretty well with some tweaks to the system,” commented Commissioner Bob Conley as he made a motion to approve the request.

The rest of the board agreed and the commss approved Hampton to apply for the grant. The Kosciusko County Council previously approved the request during last month’s meeting.

In other news:

• Attorney Scott Ruest was present on the behalf of the Friends of Tippy regarding the continuing sewer discussion. Lakeland Sewer District is open to considering expanding their district to cover the Tippecanoe Lake area. The commissioners will address this topic during the next meeting.
• County Auditor Michelle Puckett brought forth the 2018 interlocal agreement between Kosciusko County and the KCCRVC, the commissioners approved the agreement.
• The next meeting will take place at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9.
