Kosciusko Leadership Academy Learns About Local Law Enforcement, Judicial System
KOSCIUSKO — Kosciusko Leadership Academy recently met at the old courtroom in the Kosciusko Courthouse to learn about law enforcement and the judicial system in Kosciusko County.
Judge Mike Reed kicked off the morning with a discussion on the history of the judicial system in Kosciusko County and how the current system works. He discussed recent changes in the local system and spoke briefly on the hope of bringing a fourth Superior Court to the county.
The second speaker of the morning was Warsaw police Chief Scott Whitaker. He taught the cadets the makeup of the local city police department and new features within the city police department.
The third speaker of the morning was Kosciusko County Sheriff Rocky Goshert. Sheriff Goshert explained the sheriff’s department role in Kosciusko County, how the different agencies work together and all the different duties and responsibilities of the sheriff’s department.
The cadets were provided a tour of the county justice building following the speakers.
