Valley Basketball: Wabash Shoots Past Vikings
WABASH – The Wabash boys basketball team heated up the hardwood Thursday night.
The hot-shooting Apaches used a sizzling shooting performance to race past Tippecanoe Valley 67-32 in Three Rivers Conference play.
The hosts drained 9-17 shots in the opening period, including 5-7 from 3-point range, to take a 25-11 lead. Wabash was up 45-15 at halftime thanks to a 16-30 shooting effort. The Vikings were just 6-20 from the field in the first half.
Wes Melanson scored nine points to lead the Vikings, who drop to 2-14 overall with their ninth straight loss.
Parkur Dalrymple netted seven points and Tanner Trippiedi and Jaydin Conley each added four points for Valley, which is now 0-6 in TRC play.
Jalen Shepherd led Valley with five rebounds and Trippiedi had five assists.
Valley shot 12-38 overall from the field, including 4-13 from distance. The Vikings were 4-6 from the free throw line and had 22 turnovers in the game.
Trenton Daughtry led Wabash with 22 points, including making 4-6 from deep.
The Apaches, who won their fourth straight game to improve to 9-6 overall, shot 25-52 from the field. Wabash, which is now 4-2 in the TRC, was 7-16 from 3-point range and 10-15 from the line with nine turnovers.
Valley hosts TRC foe Rochester Saturday afternoon with the JV game at noon. Wabash hosts league opponent Manchester Saturday with the JV contest at 1 p.m.
