IFCA Announces Academic All-State Lists
INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Football Coaches Association released its Academic All-State list for the 2017 season, and a number of area players earned themselves the distinction.
Six Warsaw players were named to the Academic All-State rolls in Craig Miner, Andrew Owens, Zack Riley, Jack Tucker, Braden Weaver and Grant Wolfe. NorthWood netted five picks in Payton Bear, Micah Lehman, Ethan Hochstetler, Cooper Midddaugh and Brayton Yoder. Wawasee had two picks in Zakary Linnemeier and Will Geer, and Triton’s Drew Stichter was singled out for the Trojans.
Other Northern Lakes Conference picks included eight Northridge players in Keegan Hoag, Micah Yoder, Nick Hooley, Carson Deal, Adam Lantz, Mason Troyer, Conner Graber and Nick Yoder. Seven Concord players were honored in Jack Lietzan, Jacob Yoder, Kevin Sibal, Josh Gorball, Grady Reed, Dawson Demien and Grant Magnuson. Five Plymouth players also earned Academic All-State honors in Nathan LaFree, Zach Stiller, Sean Masson, Payton Skirvin and Brock Witmer.
Other Hoosier North Athletic Conference selections were Pioneer’s Garrett Schroder and Conner Walker, Winamac’s Benn Watts, Culver Community’s Ethan Shuman and Cody Russell, LaVille’s Jacob Good and Knox’s Trevor Flagg, Kooper Broeker, Kameron Howard and Tanner Flagg.
In the Three Rivers Conference, Manchester received three picks in Remington Trick, Hayes Sturtsman and Nathan Ozenbaugh, Peru had three players named in Robert Cunningham, Nathan Brimbury and Devin Reagle, two North Miami players were named in Caleb McConahay and Connor Hanaway, and Wabash’s Austin Vinopal and SouthWood’s Parker Mays were both chosen.
A full nine players made the list for Culver Military, and Fairfield had six players selected. For the Eagles, William Kuhl, Michael Bocker, Kyle Dane, Conner Henderson, Willis Hetzel, John Houston, Jake Rodgers, Brian Loudermilk and Tommy Polhamus earned the honor, while for the Falcons, Michael Shetler, Tim Hostetler, Austin Brandenberger, Connor Kitson, Zachary Lantz and Justin Beachy were all named.
Lakeland’s Nolan Isaacs and Columbia City’s Ethan Christen were named to the 2017-18 IFCA list as well.
