NORTH WEBSTER — After a North Webster man was arrested he became violent with and threatened multiple officers and hospital staff members.

Brandon Douglas Long, 36, 620 S. Dixie Drive, North Webster, is being charged with  battery against law enforcement officers, a level 6 felony; intimidation to law enforcement officers, a level 6 felony; and disorderly conduct, a class B misdemeanor.

On Feb. 14, an officer with the North Webster Police Department was transporting Long, a subject he had just arrested, to Kosciusko Community Hospital. While in route to the hospital, Long threatened to kill the officer.

Two more officers responded to assist with the situation. While escorting Long into the hospital, he attempted to head-butt one of the officers. One of the nurses instructed Long to lie down and stop talking. Long responded, “f***k you.”

Long then told a doctor that the officer was a “c**k sucker” and that he would “f**k his mother and kill his children.”

Long’s behavior continued to be aggressive and he refused to lie down and let the hospital personnel assess him. As a result, his wrists and ankles were handcuffed and shackled to the bed. While waiting for an officer to retrieve the shackles, Long kicked an officer on the right side of his head.

Long was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on Feb. 14, with a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
