Kosciusko
Officers from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
9:14 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, South SR 13, south of East CR 600S, Warsaw. Driver: David L. Hyde, 51, West Winona Ave., Warsaw. Hyde told police he was driving his vehicle southbound on SR 13 when a deer entered the roadway. He told police he was unable to avoid hitting the deer with his vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
4:47 p.m. Monday, March 19, West SR 14, east of South Bouse Drive, Silver Lake. Driver: Travis D. Rans, 26, South CR 700E, Akron. Rans told police he was driving his vehicle westbound on SR 14 and fell asleep, causing his vehicle to leave the south side of the road. The vehicle struck a farm fence and an INDOT speed limit sign. Damage up to $50,000.
8:19 a.m. Monday, March 19, East CR 1200S and South CR 300E, Warsaw. Driver: Shaytonna N. Leavitt, 29, East SR 14, Silver Lake. Leavitt told police she was driving her vehicle southbound on CR 300E and was turning eastbound on CR 1200S when she lost control of her vehicle, causing it to leave the roadway on the south side and strike several trees. Damage up to $25,000.
Warsaw
Officers from the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
4:53 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2501 Walton Boulevard, Warsaw. A shopper at Walmart told police she had applied her emergency brake while parking in the parking lot but then was paged in the store and told to return to her vehicle where she observed the vehicle had rolled forward and collided with another parked vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
4:23 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, US 30, east of East Center Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Daniel G. Hueber, 21, Clinic Court, Warsaw, Daniel L. Woods, 64, East Legacy Lane, Winona Lake, Jason M. Winterrowd, 46, North Washington Street, Columbia City. According to the drivers, traffic was congested on the on-ramp leading from East Center Street onto US 30. Winterrowd came to a sudden stop as traffic in front of him stopped. Woods in turn suddenly stopped behind Winterrowd. Hueber said traffic began slowing and he looked to see if he could merge and when he looked back forward, traffic was completely stopped. He told police he was unable to stop his vehicle before it rear-ended Woods’ vehicle, which in turn pushed Wood’s vehicle into the rear of Winterrowd’s vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
