Four Candidates To Run For Monroe Township Advisory Board
KOSCIUSKO COUNTY — Four republican candidates are currently running for the Monroe Township Advisory Board. Voting will take place Tuesday, May 8, at the Amazing Grace Community Church, 202 W. Arthur St., Sidney.
All eligible residents are encouraged to vote. Local elections are notorious for low voter turnout, even though decisions made by local officials are the ones that most directly impact us.
Republican Candidates
Jack W. Bumgardner
Jack W. Bumgardner is currently finishing his first term as a member of the Monroe Township Advisory Board.
He grew up in the North Manchester area and attended school there. After graduation, he began working at R. R. Donnelley & Sons in Warsaw. Bumgardner and his wife, Henrietta, have been married 38 years and have five grown children.
Although this is the first elected position Bumgardner has held, he reports having a great deal of leadership and problem-solving experience from his years in the workforce.
“I believe my experience of being on the advisory board at the present time will be beneficial as we transition to a new township trustee,” said Bumgardner, adding that stability during the change will be important in maintaining quality of leadership.
His hobbies include spending time with his grandchildren, gardening, fishing and high school wrestling. Bumgardner was a wrestling coach at Whitko Middle School and continues to maintain relationships with many of his former wrestlers, managers and parents.
Donald L. Ellison
Donald L. Ellison served as a member of the Monroe Township Advisory Board from 2003 – 2010. For the past 28 years, he has been a member of the Sidney-Jackson Township Fire Department, holding numerous offices. Ellison has also been a medical first responder of the past 20 years.
He and his wife, Kelly, live on Ellison’s family farm which he currently manages. They have two adult children.
Ellison feels that if he is elected, he will be able to provide advice and guidance to the new Monroe Township trustee.
Patrick Landrigan
Patrick Landrigan is currently serving his second term as a member of the Monroe Township Advisory Board.
Landrigan, who grew up in Warsaw and currently resides in Pierceton, is employed at Purity Cylinder Gases. He and his wife, Brenda, have been married for 34 years and have five sons.
Landrigan has served on church boards and been involved with leadership through the Cub Scout organization.
“I like to see that our money is used on projects that do the most good for the township,” Landrigan said, adding that he enjoys helping out in the community.
