Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department Hosts Emergency Vehicle Operations Training Simulator
KOSCIUSKO — County offices have had the opportunity to complete emergency vehicle operations training this week.
The driving simulator allows for trainees to experience real-life scenarios that can actually happen while driving a motor vehicle, such as children running into the roadway or changing weather conditions.
The simulator helps judge reaction time and improves the awareness of distracted driving.
“All the different scenarios in this simulation really make you think,” said Captain Chris McKeand. “Reaction time is really important.”
Bliss McKnight, the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department insurance provider, made the reality-based driving simulator available for local law enforcement throughout Kosciusko County.
Additional offices that are participating in the training are the county highway department, health department, Animal Control and Kosciusko County Emergency Management.
The training first started Monday, April 23, and will continue to be available daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. until Wednesday, May 2, at the Kosciusko County Work Release, 2605 E. Center St., Warsaw.
Sheriff William Rocky Goshert would like to thank all of the local law enforcement agencies that participated in the emergency vehicle operations training simulator during the past week.
