Timbercrest Appoints New Chaplain
KOSCIUSKO — Timbercrest Senior Living Community is pleased to announce the appointment of Laura Stone as the new Chaplain.
She is a member of the Manchester Church of the Brethren and has recently served as the chaplain at a healthcare community in Bremen. She completed the clinical pastoral education program through Lutheran Hospital.
She has been a teacher, a mental health residential advisor, a musician, a minister, a carrot-weeder, a theologian, a bookseller, and a chaplain. She grew up in Indiana, but has lived in Scotland, Boston, western Massachusetts, and Virginia.
She enjoys making quilts and crafty things, contra dance, science fiction and fantasy in most forms, writes, lives in community, does yoga, sings, plays piano, and has pet cats.
She states that she is always looking for God to show up in people’s lives. This draws her to the places where people are really true to who they are, where defenses and “yeah, but’s” fall away. She loves to hear stories of grace unexpectedly breaking in, in small and large, flashy and subtle ways. She describes herself as a pilgrim at heart, and discovering the paths of faith with companions brings her great joy.
Timbercrest has long been recognized as a leader in the care of older adults. The Timbercrest family-like atmosphere stems from its Christian heritage and respect for the dignity of each resident. These ingredients blended together provide a home where residents become part of a large, caring community.
