Township Advisors Review Year-end Numbers
The Turkey Creek Township Advisory Board reviewed year-end financial reports at their regular monthly meeting Monday evening.
In her report, township trustee Barb Griffith reported balances of $254,227.24 in the township fund, $95,005.09 in the assistance fund and $99,216.21 in the rainy day fund as of Dec. 2012.
Expenses in 2012 for the township fund were $48,392.14, while receipts were $156,529.83. Expenses for the assistance fund were $133,859.50, while receipts were $114,699.34.
In his report, Fire Chief Mickey Scott reported a total of $1,271,548.59 was used from the 2012 fire territory operations budget, leaving a balance of $128,498.41. Of that $128,498.41, the township board passed a resolution at the December meeting to transfer 5-percent, or $70,000, into the equipment replacement fund.
Scott also reported on the following:
• In December 2012, the fire territory responded to nine fire calls and 678 EMS calls. In 2012, the department responded to a total of 1,195 emergency responses, an average of 3-4 calls per day.
• With the renovations to Fire Station 1 approved by all necessary boards in the amount of $450,000, the department would like to begin moving forward with the renovation process.
• Firefighter Chad Ford resigned and firefighter/EMT David Santos accepted a full-time position with the fire territory to begin Thursday.
The Turkey Creek Township Advisory Board meets at 7 p.m. on the second Monday of the month at Syracuse Fire Station Two. The next regular monthly meeting will be Feb. 11.
