Efroymson Contemporary Arts Fellowship Guidelines Released
Five selected contemporary Midwestern visual artists will each receive a $25,000 Fellowship courtesy of the 2013 Efroymson Contemporary Arts Fellowship program, which is made possible by the Efroymson Family Fund, a donor-advised fund of Central Indiana Community Foundation.
The Fellowship program, established in 2004, was created to increase awareness of contemporary art in the Midwest. The intent of the Fellowship is to reward creativity and encourage emerging individual artists by supporting their artistic development. The Fellowship program has traditionally awarded $20,000 to selected Fellows, and has distributed $700,000 to 35 contemporary Midwestern visual artists since its inception.
The Efroymson Family Fund is a donor-advised fund of the Central Indiana Community Foundation and continues a long legacy of charitable commitment by the Efroymson family in central Indiana. Established in 1998 by Dan and Lori Efroymoson, the Efroymson Family Fund strives to promote the viability of Indianapolis. To date, the Efroymoson Fund has awarded more than $70 million dollars in grants throughout central Indiana and beyond.
Fellowship categories are restricted to installation, sculpture and new media artworks. Selection criteria is based upon: quality and skill; creativity and uniqueness; commitment to developing the work; and impact the award will have on the artist’s career. Artist must be at least 25 years old by Feb. 28, 2013; a resident of either Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota or Wisconsin as of February 2012; and must be committed to residing within Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota or Wisconsin throughout the duration of the fellowship which will last from May 2013 to May 2014.
