TWF Holding Youth Summer Activities At Winona Lake Limitless Park
WINONA LAKE — This summer, reconstruction on 500’ of lakeshore at Winona Lake Limitless Park will begin. This improvement project includes installation of glacial stones and native plants, as well as a 500’ streambank restoration on Cherry Creek from the bridge to the lake. This project will continue through next spring.
In combination with this construction project, The Watershed Foundation is educating park visitors, especially youth, about not feeding the waterfowl and other actions they can take for clean water, like cleaning up pet poo, picking up litter and growing native plants.
From 1-3 p.m. each Friday from June 15 – July 27, youth and adults can join us at a pop-up tent by the parks building next to the beach with educational activities. Two fun activities will occur including making native seed bombs or pinch pots and making action pledge bracelets. Kids who participate, and the volunteers, will receive a free clean water superhero t-shirt.
The parks department will also have a “Dog Days of Summer” pop up tent with $1 hot dogs during this time.
You can also attend Superhero Training Camp 11 a.m. to noon July 16 – 20, or A Bug’s Life Camp the week of July 30. Both camps will feature a day with TWF where youth can learn about taking responsibility for the environment and being a Clean Water Hero. Bugs will be involved.
Hot dogs, free t-shirts and fun learning about clean water actions!? Sounds like a great way to spend a summer to us! Learn more about the other great Parks Department Programs here.
This program is sponsored in part by the Kosciusko County Community Foundation.
