KOSCIUSKO — A Delphi man was arrested locally after he sent messages to his ex-wife threatening to shoot her new boyfriend and then shoot himself.
Chad M. Turner, 32, 4224 N. 9th St. Delphi, is being charged with intimidation, a level 6 felony.
On June 15, an officer with the Warsaw Police Department responded to a threat complaint. A female advised that she had been receiving threatening messages from Turner, her ex-husband. According to the female, Turner advised that he was going to be in Warsaw and was going to shoot her new boyfriend in the face.
Officers were able to locate Turner inside the Kosciusko County Justice Building. Turner signed a consent form that allowed the officers to take possession of his cell phone to look for threatening messages. Turner also agreed to speak with the officers. According to the affidavit of probable cause, Turner admitted that he knew he was placing the female in fear by sending the messages. He further stated that he understood what he did was against the law.
On the cell phone, officers located a text message sent from Turner to the female on that same day. The message states that he was going to shoot her boyfriend and then shoot himself.
Turner will appear for his initial hearing in Kosciusko County Superior Court 3 on Aug. 9.
