Lake City Bank Petition Tabled By BZA
WARSAW — Concern about state highway access led to a petition being tabled by the Kosciusko County Board of Zoning Appeals during its regular monthly meeting Tuesday, July 10, in Warsaw.
Lake City Bank, represented by attorney Steve Snyder, petitioned for an exception to allow a bank with drive-in facilities in a commercial district. LCB plans to build a new branch on the south side of Emeline Street at the intersection with Higbee Street (SR 15) in Milford.
But Dan Richard, area planning director, noted the BZA, as well as the Indiana Department of Transportation, expressed concern access to the bank is being planned off SR 15. It is a very busy intersection, he noted. The petition was tabled until the August meeting to allow the petitioner to come up with an alternative plan.
Other agenda items included:
• Lamar Bost was granted an exception to have a 40 x 160 u-store it type building built on an empty lot where the laundromat was previously located on the west side of Higbee Street, south of Fourth Street in Milford. Approval was given with the conditions there will be no outside storage, the building is fenced in and access will be off Fourth Street. Bost was also granted a variance to allow the building to be constructed 18 feet from the north right of way, 34.3 feet from the state road right of way and 12 feet from the south alley.
• Ryan Burkhart was granted a variance to allow the screening of an existing covered porch on EMS D12 Lane in Van Buren Township.
• Robert and Margaret Wolfe were granted a variance to allow multiple properties to be reconfigured on EMS W30 Lane in Tippecanoe Township.
• Joe Salvo was granted a variance to allow a property to be separated which was deeded together on Skyline Drive, north of McClintic Road in Turkey Creek Township. As a condition for approval, he must get approval from the Marineland Gardens Property Association.

• Julie and Gary Bowers were granted a variance to replace a roof and posts on an existing open pavilion on Chapman Lake Drive, northeast of CR 250N in Plain Township. As a condition for approval, the new structure must be no more than 2 feet taller than the existing one and must be fully open.
• Andrew and Misty Snyder’s petition for a variance to construct an attached garage 5 feet from the side property line on Southwood Drive in Wayne Township was tabled until the August meeting to see if an alternative plan can be obtained. Ten feet is the minimum setback required.
• Midwest Realty was granted a variance for solar panel installation on Arnolt Drive, west of Pierceton in Washington Township. The panels must be installed 40 feet from the north right of way, not 10 feet as originally requested.
