Parks Department Welcomes New Program Director
SYRACUSE — Syracuse Parks Department welcomed 25-year-old Darin Lursen as the new program director. While Lursen’s first day was filled with a variety of questions, from gym activities to trail information, he openly welcomed it along with everyone who came to meet him.
Lursen grew up in Leesburg and graduated from Warsaw Community High School before majoring in recreational sports management and Indiana University Bloomington. Now living in Warsaw with his wife and dog, Lursen is active in adult softball in Warsaw, is a big baseball fan and “golfs way too much.” He shows interest and knowledge in all sports.
With a laidback and easygoing personality, Lursen enjoys helping others in any way he’s able to. Getting people active is what most of his expertise is in though he also has a background in wellness. He looks forward to improving things in anyway he can and serving the local community with his talents.
