New Weekly Academy Available For Elementary Homeschool Students
WARSAW — Elementary homeschool students in grades 1 through 6 can experience a traditional classroom setting and receive classical education instruction from certified elementary teachers through Ascend Homeschool Academy.
Founded in 2018 by homeschool mom Renee Marshall and certified teacher Julene Walker, Ascend Homeschool Academy is a supplemental school designed to complement homeschool education with instructor-led learning in a nurturing classroom setting. The academy meets one day a week, where students participate in a variety of classes including language arts, literature, science, math, history, writing and gym. All classes are taught by certified elementary education instructors.
“For several years I had a desire to homeschool, but was overwhelmed by the idea,” said Marshall. “Where I previously lived in Tennessee, my children participated in a weekly tutoring school. The school challenged my children and held them accountable for their work while giving me the structure that made homeschooling less overwhelming. After moving to Warsaw, I missed this supplement to homeschooling, so I joined with Julene to create Ascend. The academy fills the void for my children and I and provides the same opportunity to our local homeschool community.”
In addition to classes, students and parents will receive curriculum and homework assignments that guide them through the rest of each week. Assignments will be returned to Ascend instructors for grading, and all tests and quizzes will be administered through the academy. This holds students accountable for their work and saves time and energy for busy homeschool parents.
Ascend Homeschool Academy will meet on Tuesdays from Aug. 28 through Nov. 27. Students must be enrolled by Aug. 12. Enroll and get more information about Ascend at www.fignerprinttutorin.wixsite.com/ascend.
